Peter Pan Forest Kids pays attention to what their kids eat. That is why we decided on a few things regarding the meals. We eat three times a day: 2 snack times and lunch.
First: we grow what we can ourselves, and use those foods for our meals (onions, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, pumpkins, potatoes, artichokes, spices, tea plants and more). We have our own garden, our staff takes care of it together with the children and Claudia Ranja, as a professional helper, comes to visit us often and teaches our kids about permaculture.
Second: we make our own ingredients for the meals, like vegan nutella, jam, tomato sauce, and we eat eggs from our chickens and we are waiting to cultivate fruits from our trees that we planted this year.
Third: we pay close attention to where we buy our food from. Most of the vegetables, fruits and meat are from the local market place and local butcher shops. Even local producers cooperate with us on online platforms.
Knowing our children’s needs, we planned two menus (winter-spring, summer-autumn) and 100% satisfy the meat eating, vegetarian and vegan children or those with a food-sensitivity. The menu changes every day for a month, so the food has great diversity. As much as we can, we eat seasonal foods, lots of vegetables, fruits, crops, nuts and seeds. All are combined in a way that everybody gets enough carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins. We do not use sugar (we replace it with honey), ingredients with white flour (we eat whole wheat bread) and cow’s milk (we cook with non-dairy milk). We collaborate with Virlics Katalin nutritionist, who takes care of diversity of the daily food.
